Armistice Centenary Service

A Service to commemorate the centenary of the end of the First World War at St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast on 11th November 2018.

Over the past four and a half years the Northern Ireland First World War Centenary Committee have held a large number of commemorative events marking many notable centenaries from the war.

This highly significant service, to be held on the afternoon of the 11th November 2018 is the culmination of the Northern Ireland commemorations. The Committee’s twin themes of Remembrance and Reconciliation will be marked in a unique service led by the Dean of St Annes Cathedral, The Very Reverend Stephen Forde.

The Cathedral Choir will be singing a newly commissioned piece of music to mark the Armistice. They will be accompanied by members of the Ulster Orchestra. The Service will end with a moment of reflection and light at the going down of the sun.

There will be a number of senior guests from across the United Kingdom and Ireland representing civil, religious and political society, Armed Services and Veterans groups, youth groups and societies and individuals who have been involved in commemorating the war since August 2014.

For security reasons, this is an invitation only service. If you would like to attend, please e-mail
